About us

All children deserve a solid foundation. This is the simple belief that guides our work. Our first programme, an entry in the 2016 Global Learning XPRIZE, focused on guiding young children in under-resourced communities to build the foundations of reading, writing and numbers in their mother tongue.

Meet Tina and Froggie

Tina is the friendly child-teacher in our apps. She embodies the experienced teachers, story writers, translators and artists who shape the Leap to Know content. Our first Leap to Know app introduced Tina to hundreds of learners who participated in pilot programmes in Tanzania and South Africa. Since then, Tina has continued to guide learners in a loving and supportive way.

Froggie is based on the bright yellow Kihansi spray toad of Tanzania. Although declared extinct in the wild, this tiny toad is slowly finding its way back to its home gorge through a remarkable conservation effort. (Read more about the Kihansi spray toad here. It is story of hope that we love sharing.) Similar to the cute Kihansi spray toad, our cheerful Froggie is a favourite character with everyone who meets him.

Software development

Customised Applications, led by Shaun Wuth, developed our software. Today, it is kept alive by young software engineers who give their time to help maintain it — gaining real-world experience as they do.
